Website Design Packages

Note: This page is in the process of being revised. To make it simple, there are 3 primary considerations:

1. Level of design complexity/precision. This ranges from a simple site that uses text links for navigation to a standard site that uses graphical links for navigation, to a fancy site that uses javascript rollovers for navigation links. A Standard/Fancy site requires that the layout be designed in Photoshop while a Basic site does not. Basic sites cannot be controlled across browsers/computers--sizing and fonts may change--and special effects such as shading and soft gradients cannot be used. Basic sites are not as attractive. Basic sites CAN contain fancy graphics, but each graphic is completely separate from each other one, and if one graphic accidently moved over an inch, it probably would still look ok since the graphic is usually on a background of black or white.

2. Functions of the site: Does the site have an email form, e-commerce, or interactive database functions?

3. Amount of content on the site. Does the site contain pages with dozens of images (items for sale?) and if so, are these images supplied in digital format or does Blissland need to take/scan these photos?

Most people want Standard Sites without any extra functions or significant additional content. People with something to sell definately do not want a Basic Site, and those who have products to sell usually require dozens of extra photos and e-commerce. If your site is strictly informational and you need not impress the viewer with its appearance, then a Basic Site might be ok, but people who say 'I want a basic site' usually end up saying 'It is too basic, can you please make it prettier...', which means that they want a Standard Site.

Site Maintenance, Search Engine Submissions, and Anti-spam Options

All of the above plans include the initial submission of the website to Google.

Site Maintenance: After the site is completed, the client may purchase 1 hour of site maintenance per month for $50, 2 hours of site maintenance per month for $80, or 3 hours of maintenance per month for $100 (nondatabase sites only).

Anti-spam: Through an extensive number procedures, I can make your email not only completely invisible to any would-be spammers, but I can make them wish they never even tried to acquire your email address from your website. $50.

Additional Options

Graphics & photos: Graphics that are supplied in digital format in the proper size, compression, and format (as .jpg and .gif) are included in each package. Images whose size, format, or compression must be changed will incur a fee $0/image for the first 12 images and $3/image thereafter. Graphics/photos can be scanned at an additional cost of $5/image for 3x5 or smaller, and $8/image for 4x6 or larger. If original images need to be captured using our digital camera, the cost is $10/used-image, for 12 or less images, and $7/image for 13-30 images, and $5/image for 31+ images. All other graphics (e.g. buttons) are included in package costs. Additional graphics (above plan allotment) are $3 each in addition to above costs.

Text: Text must be supplied by the client. Text can be scanned and digitized using OCR software at $10/page. Text can be retyped at $30/hr.

Pages: Text length may be as long as you wish. Extra pages beyond the 6 or 12 for each plan are billed at $20 per page

Imagemaps, forms, javascripts: Additional imagemaps and javascripts cost $75 each. Additional forms cost $50 each.

Layout: The general layout and color scheme of the site must be specified by the client. This is the usual scenario. In contrast, if the client has no preconceived layout or color preferences for the site, a fee of $175 will be added for the entire site, since this no initial direction always translates into multiple redos. This fee will be waived if the client is willing to sit with us during the initial design of the layout and color scheme and in this way ensure that the client receives what he/she wants at the lowest expense of our time.

Links: External links beyond 25 cost $2 per link.

Site Maintenance: After the site is completed, the client may purchase 2 hours of site maintenance per month for $80/month or 3 hours of maintenance for $100 per month. For database sites, the cost is $90 per hour, or $75 per hour at 4 hours or more per month.

Site Marketing: Getting hits on your site takes a lot of work. Optimizing the website for the search engines is only part of it, and as more search engines consider popularity as an important ranking factor, getting hits takes more and more work. If you would like additional help marketing your site (getting links, distributing a newsletter, etc), mention it and we can go from there.

Hosting and Domain-name registration: You are responsible for acquiring a site host. Digitalforest or Pointinspace is required for the database plan. The client must register his/her own domain name and is responsible for keeping track of all of his/her usernames and passwords.

Autoresponders: Autoresponders are a function of your hosting plan. If your plan provides them, we will work with you on setting that up at no additional cost.

E-commerce items: The cost of scanning or taking digital photos for e-commerce items is specified above under Graphics. If more than 40 items are needed, site-ready items/images cost $5/item while scanning or photographing additional images costs $15/item, or $12/item if more than 20 additional items (60 total) are required.

Additional time: Any time spent that is not outlined above (e.g. additional consultation time) will be billed at $40/hr.

Video/audio: Video or audio files can be added at $50/file.

Flash: Blissland does not provide flash programming, but we work with other providers who offer this service.

Payment and timelines. After consultation, absolutely no work will begin on the website without a deposit of half of the total estimated cost. There are no exceptions to this. Blissland will complete website for client within one month of all materials received, including half payment deposit and all photos and text and "ideas." This means that no work begins on a site until payment is received, and completion is not required by Blissland until one month after all text, photos, and "ideas" are received. For example, if payment is received on june 1, and the client gets a "new idea for the layout of the site" or a "new feature for the site" or has a bunch of other photos he/she wants on the site instead on june 27, then the site is not due finished until july 27, at which point remaining payment (plus possible additional fees for added work) is due. Timeline agreements can be changed with agreement by both parties.

Late Payments. If the client does not make the final payment ontime, an interest rate of 5% per week will be assessed. Thus, if a client owes $600 and is one week late, the client owes an additional $30. After one month, the client would owe an additional $120, and so on. In addition, a late payment disqualifies the client from any and all discounts, so if a client was getting a basic package for $800, with a 10% discount, and owed $410 on completion date, a late payment would result in the client owing $490 plus any interest. Interest would be calculated on the new cost rather than the previously discounted cost.

If payment is not received one month after due date, Blissland reserves the right to shut down the website via file deletion or blocked access. Reinstatement of the website will occur only after payment is received in full, with a post-payment delay period equal to or less than the time delay between shutdown date and payment received. For example, if payment is expected on Oct 1, and has not been receieved by Nov 1, the site will be shut down. If payment is received on Dec 1, the website will be reinstated (with interest charged), but possibly as late as Jan 1. If the client wants immediate reinstatement of the website, an additional $50 will be charged.

Thus, a late payment results in a 5% per week interest charge, a disqualification of all discounts, a termination of the website if payment is more than one month late, a possible further delay in its reinstatement, and a possible $50 reinstatement charge. It is to the client's great advantage to make payments on time.

I have read this page and understand and agree to the terms, costs, and conditions specified herein.
